Vaughan 384/32 reference USB DAC

Vaughan er den nye reference-DAC i prisklassen.

Den går skridtet videre fra Young, og indeholder al den seneste know-how indenfor digital signalbehandling.

Kabinettet er oppe i fullsize 44 cm og passer dermed perfekt ind i alle systemer. Upsampling og bitrate er den samme som på Young, dvs. fra 44.1 og op til 384 Khz og max. 32 bit behandling.

På Vaughan er der dobbelt op på alle former for tilslutninger, og derudover tilbydes der både normal RCA-udgang samt mulighed for balanceret drift via XLR. Vaughan er 100% balanceret opbygget og rummer 8 DAC-kredse i en balanceret differential-kobling. Vaughan kører på en separat strømforsyning, og rummer desuden muligheden for at køre på batteridrift.

På fronten findes der display til udlæsning af indgange, samplingfrekvens osv. og der findes knapper til valg af standby, indgange og dekodning. Vaughan er designet til at kunne køre som forforstærker i et seriøst highend-anlæg og rummer en digital volume-kontrol der er liniær hele vejen op.

Som ekstra bonus er der ligeledes hovedtelefon-udgang på Vaughan, og udgangen herpå er udelukkende konstrueret af diskrete komponenter. High performance stereo D-to-A converter in a nice brushed aluminum case and grilled front panel, 440 x 80 x 440 mm.

 

 

 

A technical note: the Vaughan is our reference DAC, more affordable units will descend from it to cover different price ranges. The Vaughan features 8 D/A IC's (4 per channel in mono mode). A digital dithered volume control will allow for using the Vaughan as a preamplifier. The headphone output is made with a discrete components amplifier.

FEATURES 1) ULTRA LOW JITTER, LOW PHASE NOISE, HIGH STABILITY OSCILLATORS The Vaughan uses two custom oscillators with ultra-low phase noise (comparable to that of very expensive OCXO's) and very high precision. They are powered with ultra-low noise regulators to avoid phase noise increase. 2) PROPRIETARY DRIVERS The standard audio drivers available on the market (e.g. Microsoft Windows operating system) dictated constraints can be overcome thanks to our proprietary drivers: they allow for transferring audio data, maintaining the original file quality without any loss of resolution quality; also, sampling frequency constraints are overcome, while Microsoft and ASIO drivers oblige to operate at no more than 96kHz. When Vaughan is used together with a player application such as FooBar (available for free on Internet), you can listen to your digital music at 384kHz/32bits maximum frequency/resolution, avoiding undesired PC or MAC audio mixer data processing during the data transfer from hard disk to interface. Presently, Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 drivers are available, as well as Mac drivers for 10.4, 10.5, 10.6 and 10.7. 3) BATTERY POWER SUPPLY The Vaughan features a sophisticated low noise power supply based on a high capacity, high surge current LiPo battery. A dedicated battery charger is managed by the system controller for a totally automatic charge management. 4) TIME SHIFT DRIVE Four DAC IC's per channel used in mono mode are driven in a time shifting fashion to allow for an implicit low pass anti-alias filtering at analog buffer's inputs which uses no capacitors or other passive components.
